John Polley

John Polley (JP) is an award winning educator, international presenter, mentor, writer and specialist in movement and wellbeing. His passion for sharing information, practical skills and thought-provoking content is infectious. He loves to connect and help people find their unique pathway to realise the best in themselves. He has a natural, light-hearted and free flowing approach to education that people find engaging and fun.

Hailing from Perth, Western Australia he has worked in almost every role in the industry, from gym instructor through to studio owner. As a master instructor, he has provided education for ViPR, freeFORM boards, Sandbellls and Throwdown, and currently assists with Power Plate Aus/NZ.

As a writer, he has been a featured author for PTA Global, blog author for PT Academy Australia and has contributed to Fitpro magazine and the Fitpro podcast and is currently writing his first book about the interplay between the mind, emotions and movement. JP has also been interviewed by many industry leaders and associations for podcasts.

    Diagnoses of dementia and Parkinsons carry heavy emotions, but Suzie and JP are here to share their passionate belief, that we can provide powerful, significant and overwhelmingly positive experiences through movement and exercise. They will take you through some vital information and their unique approach to bringing fun and joy through movement so that both carers and participants have new memories to take away, whether they be short-lived memories or forever memories!

People are asked to put their feet in certain positions, activate muscles they don’t even know exist and constantly think about what they’re doing…it’s become a chore, not an exploration of what their body can do. JP invites you to become the industry of not exercising, but moving with intention, with fun, with joy, with discovery, with the freedom of imagination, with what he believes nature intended for us. This is a fully practical session, where you can experience how much not exercising can do to tick every box on the check list for the benefits of exercise, PLUS a few more!

    Did you know there is a powerful system in your body that can literally shot down your ability to move effectively or learn? Both exercise and learning have substantial energy requirements, and your brain needs to ‘budget’ for this. It sits in the darkness of your cranium, so it has to use its messengers to know what’s happening out there in your body. Whether you get to exercise well, or badly, is dependent on these messengers returning with good news. JP is here to open up this whole system for you to understand, give you the coaches check list to gauge someone’s current state, then give you the knowledge to help boost exercise outcomes through integrated practices and movement.
