Session Type: Exercise Prescription
For the majority of our awake and functioning day we are upright bipedal creatures. So it stands to reason that if we want a strong and functional core, that we should train with the concept of specificity ie upright and standing on two feet! Whilst i'm a big believer that variety is not just the spice of life, but also the spice that creates a happier body, and thus floor abdominal exercises have a place, I'm an even bigger believer that training our abdominal and core system from a variety of standing positions is not just more relevant, but can absolutely be more fun and interactive too. Come along with me as I show you how to effectively train your core, but NOT on the floor.
Session Type: Exercise Prescription | Nutrition
We all love to programme core training into our clients sessions. But how often do we consider the impacts of inflammation within the visceral and digestive systems when we programme or coach abdominal exercises? Did you know that inflammation within the abdominal cavity (via the viscera/organs) can significantly reduce the efficiency and effectiveness of abdominal exercises? Do you have clients who often mention they can feel their hip flexors rather than their abdominal muscles when performing abdominal activities? In this session you will learn the 101 on gut and visceral inflammation, how to check/appraise for this, tips to bring more activation to the abdominal system, and recommendations you can make to your clients to reduce visceral inflammation and thus improve abdominal function.
