What you need to know when training humans with endometriosis

Session Type:
Endometriosis will affect up to 1 in 9 people born with a uterus. The chances that you are going to work with somebody who shares their body with endometriosis (even when they don’t know it) is pretty high.

Whilst commonly thought of as a “hormonal condition”, endometriosis is an inflammatory immune response that can affect the whole body.

Every experience is unique but endometriosis can be painful and debilitating, and it can significantly impact movement and quality of life. With no known cure, endometriosis may lead to surgery, or multiple surgeries.

In this session, you will learn how to best support your clients – mentally, physically and emotionally – and empower them to feel strong in their bodies.

Niki was diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis less than two years ago. She wants to share with you what she believes every trainer should know when working with someone with this condition.

After a deep dive into the theory, Niki will invite you to move with her and breathe with her. She will give examples of movement, massage, lymphatic love and breathing techniques that may be beneficial in reducing pain associated with endometriosis. Be inspired to create beautiful experiences for your clients every time.

Learning Outcomes:
• What endometriosis really is
• How movement can help to reduce pain and uplift mood
• How to acknowledge and support the emotional aspects of living with endometriosis
• How to adapt your training style to suit the different stages of your client’s menstrual cycle
• The benefits of regular movement for endometriosis
