Helping Young Girls Thrive

Session Type:
A large number of girls aged between 6 years – 21 years do not meet the minimum physical activity requirements for their age group. Many adolescent girls will also stop exercising once they hit puberty. This session explores how we can encourage our young girls to incorporate movement into their lifestyle, get adolescent girls to start moving or keep moving and inspire young female adults to enjoy the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. We will explore the various factors in each age group that influence activity levels as well as what is safe for young growing bodies.

Learning Outcomes:
• Awareness of the factors that influence exercise participation in girls
• Awareness of current statistics of exercise participation
• Knowledge of factors that improve exercise participation
• Knowledge of appropriate and safe exercise for this age group
• Understanding of marketing to the younger demographic.
