From the macro structural level, down the the intracellular level, the way we breathe determines everything about us. Our posture, our movement, our physiology, our energy production, all determined by respiration and the muscle of respiration – the diaphragm.
This session outlines the role of the diaphragm in setting the resting position of the joints and muscles within the body, in determining the movements humans are capable of performing, and in mediating between the nervous system and the musculoskeletal system.
In understanding the functional role of the diaphragm in the body, you will be better equipped to assess movement and performance issues, as well as pain and injury.
The diaphragm is the king of the body, and this session strives to elevate the understanding of the single most under-appreciated structure in the human body.
Learning Outcomes
– Identify how every movement is representative of the two phases of breathing
– Learn how to map the resting position of every joint and muscle in the body, with the diaphragm as the reference point, to better understand the how your clients end up with pain, injuries and performance issues
– Learn how movement is fundamentally generated within the body and how it all starts with the diaphragm
– Observe the immediate shift you can create in strength and range of movement when an individual is breathing correctly, and in applying this with your clients, you will be able to see instant and substantial improvements in the quality of your movement training, and in client outcomes
