For the majority of our awake and functioning day we are upright bipedal creatures. So it stands to reason that if we want a strong and functional core, that we should train with the concept of specificity ie upright and standing on two feet! Whilst i’m a big believer that variety is not just the spice of life, but also the spice that creates a happier body, and thus floor abdominal exercises have a place, I’m an even bigger believer that training our abdominal and core system from a variety of standing positions is not just more relevant, but can absolutely be more fun and interactive too. Come along with me as I show you how to effectively train your core, but NOT on the floor.
Learning Outcomes
* Understand the concepts of warding patterns and palloff patterns and understand how we can utilise these to target our core in our exercise sessions
* Expand the mind and think outside the box with how we can target and engage our core musculature
* Challenge the mind to extend beyond traditional core training exercises
* To bring more play, interaction and fun into our core training sessions via abdominally-focussed drills
