Eric Helms PhD, CSCS, Accred.SpNut, is a Senior Research Fellow at AUT’s Sports Performance Research Institute New Zealand, where he studied for his second Master’s in sports nutrition and his PhD in strength and conditioning. He researches strength and physique sport science and mentors post-graduate students.
A trainer since the early 2000’s, Eric has coached drug free strength and physique competitors from recreational to world champion level as a part of 3D Muscle Journey, which he is a cofounder of and the scientific advisor for.
Eric communicates sports nutrition and sports science through social media, podcasts, blogs, and conferences, his books the Muscle and Strength Pyramids, and MASS Research Review, which he cofounded. Eric is also an active competitor, as a WNBF Professional Bodybuilder, and also competes in drug free strength sport.
