Dr Aaron Uthoff is a Senior Lecturer at Auckland University of Technology and Lead Researcher in Strength and Conditioning at the Sports Performance Research Institute New Zealand (SPRINZ).
With over 12 years of practical experience coaching and consulting across Olympic teams, professional sport, and youth development, he specialises in blending science and practice to enhance athletic performance. His research focuses on speed, power, and return-to-play strategies—particularly backward running, eccentric training, and wearable resistance—translating biomechanical and physiological insights into real-world interventions.
Aaron works closely with coaches and clinicians to co-design solutions that meet the demands of high-performance sport while maintaining academic integrity. He also plays a leading role in developing AUT’s fully online Master of Human Performance Leadership and Innovation, a programme tailored to professionals across sport, military, and emergency services.
Committed to inclusive, applied, and collaborative approaches, Aaron’s work is grounded in AUT’s values of Tika, Pono, and Aroha and aims to cultivate environments where both athletes and practitioners can thrive.
